So for many years, Alta Lake was a summer resort with logging as it's main industry. Explorers and mountaineers continued to visit the area and in the 1960's talk of the Olympics spurred investment in the ski area. A group of people with incredible vision went to work and developed the Resort Municipality of Whistler.

Fast forward to 2018. It took years but we are now a successful four-season resort. The Village was designed by Eldon Beck who worked on Vail resort in Colorado. You could say he honed his landscape architect skills on Vail and then created Whistler Village.

In the early days, you could ski out to the dump and take a bus back to Creekside to get up the mountain again. When Blackcomb opened in 1980, Whistler responded with three new chairlifts and runs down to the Village. Both Whistler and Blackcomb continued to raise the bar for ski resorts around the world.

What has proven the most valuable commodity is the tourist accommodation zoning in the Village and Blackcomb areas. With the advent of owner direct rental websites such as VRBO and Airbnb, you can have a real estate investment with legal zoning to operate on these sites. Property owners from around the world are enjoying an investment that allows personal time in Whistler as well as generating a great return.
